Faculty of School of Accounting Attended the 3rd New Silk Road Accounting Forum

On November 22nd, the faculty of the School of Accounting, SWUFE, attended the 3rd New Silk Road Accounting Forum held in Chongqing University. In response to China’s “Belt and Road Initiative”, the forum was aimed to give a full play to the important role of accounting in the “Belt and Road” construction, accelerate the construction of “Double First-Class”, and support for the development of accounting disciplines and talent training in the new era. This forum was jointly organized by several universities, including Chongqing University, Southwestern University of Finance and Economics, Xi'an Jiaotong University, Lanzhou University, Yunnan University of Finance and Economics, Xiamen National Accounting Institute, and Shihezi University. More than 150 scholars and experts, teachers and graduate students from Nanjing University, Xiamen University and Golden Education Group were invited to this annual conference. The conference has received great attention from both the academic and practical communities, contributing to promoting the academic exchange and theoretical development of accounting in China.

The opening ceremony was presided by Prof. XIN Qingquan, Vice Dean of Economics and Business Administration, Chongqing University. On behalf of the organizer, he extended a warm welcome and heartfelt gratitude to the attendees and introduced the development background of the forum as well as expectations for future development. During the process of thesis report, HU Ning, Associate Professor of the School of Accounting, SWUFE, reported the working paper titled “Disclosure of Public Information and Creditor Pricing Decision: Evidence from Chinese Comment Letters”. The paper explored the extent to which the market had used shared and private information. QI Baolei, teacher of Xi’an Jiaotong University made a comment accordingly. Afterwards, XU Ke, Associated Professor of the School of Accounting, SWUFE commented on Prof. ZENG Jianguang’s report titled “Entrepreneur Materialism and Corporate Innovation: Evidence from Chinese Private Enterprises”, discussing the impact of non-listed entrepreneurial materialism on corporate R&D.

At the end of the forum, round-table discussions were held among faculty representatives from participating universities to discuss how to improve the quality of undergraduate teaching, how to make the standard for talent cultivation orientation, and what methods are worthy of mutual reference. Teacher representatives first introduced their universities’ understandings of undergraduate teaching reforms and the current implementation methods. At the same time, they analyzed the problems and difficulties encountered in the reform process in accordance with their own school and college development background and characteristics. Among them, SWUFE teacher LI Yuedong introduced the innovative measures made by the School of Accounting in the "big data" accounting specialty construction and curriculum design for the new information technology environment, and also explained the institutional innovation on the introduction of teachers and the cultivation of undergraduate research. TANG Guoqiong and LUO Hong of SWUFE all shared their insights at the conference.

This forum involved two major aspects of accounting, naming scientific research and teaching. Based on the participation of original universities, it has attracted more attention from other universities, promoted the exchange of scientific research and teaching, improved mutual understanding and identification, and deepened mutual trust and friendship among universities. Looking forward to another brilliant "New Silk Road Accounting Forum"!
