    September,25,2025

On the morning of September 22nd, the college held a discussion and exchange with Mr. Zhengwei Zhang, Special Advisor to the President of the International Sustainable Standards Board (ISSB) and Director of the Beijing Office. The purpose of this conference is to conduct in-depth discussions on the application of ESG and FSA in the financial field, as well as talent cultivation, and jointly promote the deep integration of sustainable development concepts in higher education and professional practice. The visiting guests include Zhengwei Zhang, Changhua Wu, and Hongyue Cheng, a delegation of six people. Six representatives from Southwest University of Finance and Economics attended the conference together.

At the beginning of the meeting, Dean Xuesong Tang mentioned that Southwest University of Finance and Economics looks forward to further expanding its cooperation space through this exchange.

Subsequently, Director Zhengwei Zhang and Dean Xuesong Tang exchanged views on the current enrollment situation, employment status, and future trends of the accounting major. Both parties agree that with the increasing global emphasis on sustainable development, talents in the fields of accounting and finance need to possess ESG integration and international standard application abilities, and higher education should adjust its curriculum system and training mode accordingly. Director Changhua Wu pointed out that ESG information has become the core content of non-financial performance for enterprises, and financial professionals urgently need to master relevant frameworks and practical skills. Hongyue Cheng provided a detailed introduction to the content and format of the FSA (Fundamentals of Sustainability Accounting) exam promoted by the International Sustainability Standards Board, and expressed her hope to cooperate with universities to promote the construction of relevant training courses. In addition, the attending representatives also discussed the feasibility and subsequent planning of offering elective courses related to FSA exams in the college, to help students adapt to international standards in advance and enhance their employment competitiveness.

This symposium not only deepened mutual understanding between the two sides in the fields of ESG and sustainable development, but also laid a solid foundation for future cooperation in curriculum development, teacher training, academic research, and international certification. The college will continue to actively expand dialogue and cooperation with international organizations to help China achieve higher levels of development in sustainable finance and ESG talent cultivation.
